Issues

On Nov 8, 2011, voters in the 3rd ward of the city of San Bernardino, should be aware of the issues that impact their quality of life.  Residents should hold their respective leadership with high performance & outcome based solutions.  Young families, businesses and tourists are attracted to cities that have a ”leader behavior” approach and are supportive of this form of leadership.

Learn the issues facing our 3rd Ward of San Bernardino and John Valdivia’s position on addressing these services for residents:

UNEMPLOYMENT–Residents in the 3rd Ward are seeking jobs. With estimates and statistics pointing to the lack of job creation, San Bernardino is facing unemployment at 19.2%. Unemployment is unrelenting and local economists anticipate it unabating for the next several business quarters. Specifically hit hard is the young demographic that has limited opportunities and  challenged by a competitive marketplace. Young families and residents in San Bernardino’s 3rd Ward want quality paying jobs with sustainable wages & health benefits to provide for their family.

POLICE–crime reduction efforts & safe communities  are  essential to the quality of life for residents. Repeatedly, John Valdivia has been asked about his position on police and crime reduction at the doorsteps of residents.  John Valdivia is committed to San Bernardino Police and understands that adequate resourcing, funding and support for this department is top of mind for residents in the 3rd Ward.  John earned the endorsement of the San Bernardino Police Officers Association because of his crime reduction advocacy plan and his commitment to San Bernardino.

FIRE–residents in the 3rd Ward are conscientious that San Bernardino City fire department has been stripped of its capactiy to provide essential emergency services. John Valdivia is committed to San Bernardino’s 3rd Ward and provide the necessary policies to regain and recoup the lost resources for this critical city service.  The San Bernardino City Professional Firefighters have endorsed Mr. Valdivia because of his intent focus on providing and restoring emergency services for residents in the 3rd Ward.

Graffitti & blight reduction are important aspects of getting San Bernardino’s image restored so that visitors and residents are proud to visit, reside, shop, and transact commerce. John Valdivia is committed to instilling ciivc pride in San Bernardino and for several years has been volunteering to reduce and impact this growing dillema.  John regularly paints down graffitti, reports problem corridors and will be vocal supported at the council dias in cleaning up San Bernardino.

Burnt Out Street Lights–Tangled mess is what is produced by the lack of priority spending and priority planning on Mr Councilman’s 5 year watch. Many of the 1,200 burnt out street lights in San Bernardino are in 3rd Ward.  In just a few short days, Mr. Valdivia personally reported nearly 75+ burnt out streets lights and will be a strong voice to restore lighting to San Bernardino’s 3rd Ward.

Our Hospitality Lane sits in harm’s way because of the lack-luster voice & commitment to our “restaurant row” by our elected coucilman. John Valdivia has the support of numerous businesses, developers and restaurants on Hospitality Lane because of his vocal support of restoring eateries on Hospitality Lane. This is one of the leading commerce zones in San Bernardino, and specifically, anchored in our 3rd Ward of San Bernardino.

Potholes & City Streets–the city of San Bernardino recently celebrated its 200th birthday.  One cannot deny that deferred maintenance, which is the easiest alternative for elected officials, yet it does nothing to address the aged city streets in our city. John Valdivia will work with other city council members to enact a plan to address the deteriorating city streets with a cohesive multi-public works plan to rehabilitate major city thoroughfares, congested streets, relief troubled intersections, and improve the overall surface of public sidewalks, streets, and roads in San Bernardino.

SB Auto Plaza–At the core of any thriving city is its commitment & partnership to host automobile dealers. San Bernardino has lost significant revenue during the past 2.5 years and lost revenue disportionately affects services for San Bernardino residents. John Valdivia is committed to commerce and businesses and will make efforts to welcome auto dealers and re-invigorate this importance business sector to San Bernardino.
