Serving my community is a personal priority and I’m disheartened at the uncivil tone made by Rabbi Cohn in his Voice of the People letter (“Exaggerated roles,” Oct. 31).
I currently serve as vice chairman of the Human Relations Commission and served on the Bicentennial Commission, which marked a historic day in our city.
I was born and raised in San Bernardino and am dedicated to making our community a better place for all residents. One of the ways I have chosen to better my community is by volunteering to serve on two of our city commissions – the Bicentennial Committee and the Human Relations Commission.
I have faithfully attended and participated in the meetings of these committees. I also serve as a board member for the Casa de San Bernardino anti-drug youth organization.
Indeed, my record has earned the endorsement of more than a dozen fellow city commissioners, including those from both of the committees on which I serve.
Rather than demeaning and mocking my level of public service, Rabbi Cohn should be encouraging more citizens – especially those in our undeserved communities – to participate and help us to build a better San Bernardino.
San Bernardino residents have had enough of divisive City Hall politics. It’s time to move our city forward to a brighter future by electing a new councilman for the 3rd Ward.
