Newly elected 2nd Ward City Councilman Robert Jenkins today endorsed challenger John Valdivia for San Bernardino City Council.
“As the newest member of the City Council, I had originally intended to remain neutral in the 3rd Ward City Council election this November. However, recent events, including the San Bernardino Airport scandal, demonstrate the need for greater public oversight and accountability at City Hall.”
“I am endorsing John Valdivia for City Council because he will help San Bernardino make the changes necessary to restore citizen confidence in city government and bring new jobs to our community,” stated Jenkins.
Two local taxpayer organizations also announced their support for Valdivia’s candidacy:
“The Inland Empire Taxpayers Association is pleased to endorse John Valdivia for City Council. San Bernardino Taxpayers can count on him to oppose higher taxes and cut wasteful spending,” said Inland Empire Taxpayers Association Founder Chris Mann.
“Taxpayers Against Wasteful Government Spending supports John Valdivia in the 3rd Ward City Council election,” said former local businessman Jim Ott, a spokesman for the Taxpayer organization.
“Citizens are demanding answers for the mismanagement and abuses that have occurred at the San Bernardino Airport. They want honest leadership. The current stonewalling by the IVDA Board and the Airport Commission is unacceptable,” declared Valdivia.
John Valdivia, a life-long resident of San Bernardino, serves on the San Bernardino Human Relations Commission and the City’s Bicentennial Committee. He is a graduate of the Community Police Academy and the San Bernardino Citizens’ Academy.
